David Malmberg

David Malmberg

David Malmberg - guitarist, singer/songwriter, and composer - was born with entertainment in his blood. From a family of professional musicians, David began his musical education on the accordion and added the guitar by age thirteen. David began his entertainment career at age fifteen. Performing as a guitarist, he quickly discovered the exhilaration of live performance.

The guitar eventually led him to Spain and study of the classical guitar with America Martinez Serrano at the Conservatorio De Musica in Sevilla. Ultimately, David earned a Master's degree in music providing him an academic foundation for his first love, live performance.

In the past 20 years, he has recorded 10 CD's and has been traveling the country with shows that feature comedy, storytelling and music. At approximately 125 perforamcnes a year, David estimates that he has performed in front of more than a half million people and has had the pleasure of working with such greats as Merle Haggard, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Juice Newton, BJ Thomas, Michael Johnson, The Statler Brothers and Kathy Mattea.

David's latest creation is: We the People, Songs and Stories of America, a potpourri of our musical roots as a people. Past and present, it is American culture through music and story that we the people have talked about, laughed about, cried about and sung about for over 235 years. There are moments of poignancy, intellectual curiosity and outright laughter all woven together in a virtuosic and entertaining tapestry of guitar, banjo, and vocal music.

Upon seeing David in We the People, you will understand why Hugh Downs of ABC News declared him a "treasure" and David's music "marvelous." His latest recording, We the People, Vol. 1, justifies this praise and is another recorded example of David's fine musical artistry.
